William's Story

Queenslander Billy Miller first participated in water polo at the age of 14. He made his senior debut as a 20-year-old at the Beijing Test event in 2008. Studying property development, he was eligible to compete at the World University Games where he helped the Australian team claim an historic gold medal in 2009.

He was selected to make his Olympic debut at the London 2012 Games. After losing three of their first four matches, the Australians knocked off Greece 13-8 to book a spot in the quarter-finals against Serbia. The Aussies took a 7-4 halftime lead before going down 8-11 to the eventual bronze medallists. Miller finished as Australia’s top scorer with 13 goals in the competition.
