William's Story

Born in Colorado, USA, Brodie Buckland moved to Australia to pursue his studies and rowing. Buckland had already rowed in the USA men's eight which finished fourth at the 2007 World Championships. He became an Australian citizen in February 2012 and teamed up with Beijing Olympian James Marburg before the Australian Trials in March 2012.

Buckland made his Olympic debut alongside Marburg at the London 2012 Games. The pair finished second in their heat and then made it through to the final after finishing third in their semi. In what was a dominant display by the New Zealand pair that claimed gold, Buckland and Marburg finished in fifth place.
