Wendy's Story
Wendy Turnbull was among the finest women’s tennis players of her era, ranking in the top ten for women’s singles for eight consecutive years. When tennis returned to the Olympic program in 1988 after an absence of 60 years, Wendy Turnbull joined forces with Liz Smylie to win a bronze medal for Australia in the women’s doubles. She also competed in the singles in Seoul, losing in the second round. She enjoyed an outstanding professional career, winning 13 singles and 55 doubles titles. Turnbull has stayed active in the sport as a leading administrator.
