Warren's Story
1962 -
Warren Birmingham enjoyed an outstanding international career in hockey, highlighted by representing Australia at the Olympics in 1988 and 1992. After placing fourth in 1988, the team won a silver medal at Barcelona. The Kookaburras enjoyed an outstanding tournament in Spain. They dominated their preliminary games, scoring 20 goals and only conceding two, before beating the Netherlands in the semi-final. In the final they lost to Germany 2-1, having drawn 1-1 with the Germans in a preliminary match. Birmingham was honoured in 2008 as one of the inaugural inductees of Hockey Australia’s Hall of Fame.
