Virginia's Story
1965 -
Dual Olympian Virginia Lee teamed with Rebecca Joyce to win a bronze medal in the women’s lightweight double sculls in Atlanta. The pair won their heat and semi-final, proving their form and fitness. They lowered their time in the final to win the bronze. It was one of seven rowing medals won in Atlanta by Australians, making it our most successful Olympic regatta. Lee returned to compete at her hometown Games in Sydney in 2000, placing fourth in the lightweight double sculls with new partner Sally Newmarch.
