Victoria's Story

Having only taken up water polo seriously at the age of 17, Victoria Brown made her Olympic debut at the London 2012 Games. A talented goalkeeper, Brown was put on notice as a reserve for the Olympic Games in 2008 but was not called in to play.

After coming so close to competing in Beijing, Brown was given her chance on the Olympic stage in London. The Australians opened their campaign with three victories to top their group in the preliminary rounds before beating the Chinese in a penalty shoot-out in the quarter-final. The Aussies were involved in another extra-time thriller in the semi-final where their long-time American rivals came out on top 11-9. The Aussies went on to beat Hungary 13-11 to take home the bronze in their third successive extra-time match.
