Tully's Story
Tully Bevilaqua (Crook) won a silver medal as a member of the Australian women’s basketball team in 2008. Born in Western Australia, Bevilaqua was a valuable asset to the Opals in the backcourt, with her defence on opposing guards especially effective. She finished among the tournament leaders in steals in Beijing. The Opals won seven straight matches in Beijing, before losing to the United States in the final. In fact, Beijing marked the third consecutive Olympic final in which the Opals had lost to the US after being undefeated in the preliminary round, quarter-final and semi-final phases. Bevilaqua also was a member of the Opals team which won the 2006 world championships, Australia’s first senior title in basketball.
