Torsten's Story

Torsten Lachmann competed for Germany and won the 2005 World Cup C1 marathon for his native country. As the 2005 National Champion he travelled to Australia for the World Championships in Perth and enjoyed it so much he cancelled his flight home. Lachmann stayed in Australia and won the C2 200m, 500m and 1000m at the 2006 and 2007 Australian National Championships. Having made an international debut for Australia in 2006, Lachmann was chosen in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team. He made the semi-finals in his two events: C1 500m and C1 1000m.
