Todd's Story
Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde are fondly remembered as the ‘the Woodies’, the most formidable men’s doubles tennis team of their era. Among their achievements were two memorable moments at the Olympics: gold in Atlanta and silver four years later in Sydney. Their 1996 success remains Australia’s only gold medal in tennis, and they remain our only dual medallists in the sport. Woodbridge, of Sydney, is a four-time Olympian, having also competed in Barcelona and Athens. While an accomplished singles player (he once reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon), Woodbridge’s real success was in doubles, rising to be the top-ranked doubles player in the world. He won 16 Grand Slam men’s doubles titles, 11 of them with Woodforde.
