About Tim

Tim Howard grew up playing with Brisbane’s Eastern Suburbs Hockey Club, quickly excelling in the sport.

Early on in his career, the skilful defender was a member of Australia’s gold-medal-winning team at the 2014 Youth Olympics and, in 2016, was captain of the Junior World Cup team.

The young gun debuted with the Kookaburras in November 2017 after being a part of the Development Squad throughout the year. His international debut saw him playing against New Zealand at the International Festival of Hockey in Bendigo.

Unfortunately, Tim missed out on selection for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games team. However, eight months later, he was part of the Bronze medal-winning team at the 2018 World Cup in India with a huge 8-1 over England.

In June 2019, Tim won gold with the Kookaburras in the FIH Pro League final against Belgium (3-2) held in Amsterdam.

Howard would make his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020. He assisted the Kookaburras to a dominant group-stage showing, setting up a final rematch against Belgium for the Olympic Gold. They would fall just short of the spoils losing in a tense penalty shootout 1(2) - 1(3). This would, however, earn TIm his first Olympic medal (Silver) in his debut at the games.
