HAVE A GO AT OLYMPIC SPORTS
Thomas's Story
Tom Bolger, Harry Morris and Arthur Ford formed the three-man Australian freestyle wrestling team at Amsterdam 1928. All were hampered by pre-Games injuries and an unfamiliarity with the Continental rules of wrestling employed during the Olympic bouts. Bolger’s injured shoulder precluded his training as rigorously as required to maintain the weight necessary for the division for which he was selected to compete. As a result, he fought in a higher division, middleweight, and this when coupled with his injury and not knowing all the rules meant that he, like the other two, was eliminated early in the tournament.
