Tasman's Story

1916 - 1981

Tassie Johnson competed in the cycling sprint at Berlin 1936. He was defeated by the eventual silver medallist in the quarter-finals. Unlike his teammate Jack Standen, after Amsterdam 1928 he waited the mandatory two years following his Olympic appearance before turning professional. His son Gordon competed on the Olympic velodrome at Tokyo 1964 and Mexico City 1968.
