Suzanne's Story
Suzie Landells was the surprise star for Australia on the first day of the 1984 Olympics, winning a silver medal in the women’s 400m individual medley. The 19-year-old Queenslander had only finished second in her heat in the morning, but produced a brilliant swim under pressure to record a PB of 4 mins 44.30 secs, providing a spark for the Aussie team. Landells won both the women’s medleys, the 200m and 400m, at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
