Suzannah's Story
Suzie Fraser won a bronze medal for Australia in women’s water polo in 2008. From Queensland, the left-handed driver proved a key player for Australia in its bronze medal final against Hungary. She scored twice in the tense, see-sawing affair, which Australia ultimately won 12-11 after a penalty shoot-out. Australia enjoyed a remarkable run of close matches in Beijing. Of its six games, one was tied, four were decided by a goal (including its last-minute 9-8 loss to the United States in the semi-final) and the other by two goals. The bronze was Australia’s second women’s water polo medal following its Sydney 2000 gold.
