Susan's Story
Australia had never won a women’s rowing medal before Susan Brosnan (nee Lee) teamed with Karen Brancourt, Margot Foster, Robyn Grey-Gardner and Susan Chapman to win bronze in the coxed fours in 1984. Brosnan was the cox, and her tactical ability proved vital in Australia’s success. At the half-way mark of the race, Australia was last in the field of six. But the crew picked up their pace over the final 1000m, surging home to claim the medal.
