Stephen's Story
1979 –
Stephen Lambert won a bronze medal for Australia in men’s hockey in 2008. The Queenslander was the sole goalkeeper for the Kookaburras in Beijing. As such, he was pivotal to the team’s defence, which shone as Australia outscored its opponents 32-12 in its seven matches. After losing its semi-final 3-2 to Spain, the Kookaburras rebounded well in the bronze medal final to trounce traditional rivals the Netherlands 6-2. Lambert’s wife, Angie Lambert (nee Skirving), is a triple Olympian and Sydney 2000 gold medallist for the Hockeyroos.
