Stephen's Story

1969 -

Stephen Davies enjoyed a remarkable international hockey career for Australia. He represented Australia at three consecutive Olympics, winning a medal each time. He won a silver medal in 1992 and bronze medals in 1996 and 2000. An outstanding goal scorer and leader, Davies combined exciting pace with a scorer’s instinct in front of goal. He retired after Sydney 2000, and four years later the Kookaburras finally won the gold medal Davies and many others had worked so hard to achieve for Australia.
