Simon's Story
Simon Gerrans raced motorbikes before he suffered a serious knee injury in 2000. Gerrans tried out cycling to aid his recovery and never looked back. In 2006 Gerrans won the Tour Down Under, Herald Sun Tour and helped his teammate claim the yellow jersey at the Tour de France. In 2008 Gerrans won a stage at the Tour de France and later that year the talented road racer made his Olympic debut. Gerrans placed 37th in the road race in Beijing.
The next Olympiad Gerrans started 2012 by winning the Milan-San Remo Classic, Tour Down Under and becoming the National Road Race Champion. Racing at his second Olympic Games in London, Gerrans finished 83rd in the road race.
