Sharn Freier, originally selected as a team reserve for the Paris 2024 Matildas, was brought into the 18-player Australia v Germany match day squad to make her Olympic debut for the injured Tameka Yallop.
It came off the back of the Queensland-born forward's 23rd birthday just a day prior and four months after her Matildas debut, in a 2-0 international friendly win against Mexico in San Antonio, USA when she subbed on late in the second half.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics the Matildas faced Germany, Zambia and the USA in a tough Group B.
Sharn played in the tournament-opening 3-0 loss to Germany, which was followed by a dramatic 11-goal thriller against Zambia where the Matildas came back from 5-2 down to win 6-5. Facing a must-win scenario against the USA to stay alive, the Matildas' tournament ended on another 3-0 loss.
In A-Leagues club land she plays for the Brisbane Roar and was brought up through Moreton Bay United FC.
