Ronald's Story
1888-1936
Ron Thomas, the first South Australian member of the Australian Olympic team, competed in the tennis singles at Antwerp 1920. A veteran of World War 1, he was a successful member of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) tennis team in England and Europe after the war ended. He represented Australia at the Inter-Allied Games in Paris in July 1919. Thomas was doubles champion, with Pat O’Hara Wood, of Australasia in 1919 and 1920 and at Wimbledon in 1919.
