Dual Olympian Robert Scott enjoyed his finest moment in sport when he won a silver medal with David Weightman in the men’s coxless pair in Atlanta.
The Aussies peaked superbly at the Games. They won their heat and semi-final in slick fashion, setting up a showdown with famed British pair Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent in the final.
The Brits got off to a flying start, but in the final 500m of the race the Australians bravely closed the gap but could not get ahead.
Scott had made his Olympic debut four years earlier in Barcelona, finishing fifth in the men’s eight.
