Rachel's Story

Rachel Bugg made her Olympic debut at the 2012 London Olympic Games in the 10m synchronised platform alongside dual Olympic bronze medallist Loudy Wiggins. The duo’s road to London was an interesting one, with Wiggins coming out of retirement and Bugg originally partnered with Hannah Thek. It was only when Thek was injured that Wiggins and Bugg- who lived and trained in different states- combined and began working towards London 2012 together.

The pair made it through to the final at London’s Aquatic Centre and sat in medal contention going into the final dive. Unfortunately for the Aussies, the Canadians finished 44.85 points ahead of them with Mexico taking home silver and China the gold.

Bugg began diving when she was 11 having competed for seven years at state level in gymnastics. Bugg also competed at the 2005 AYOF where she collected a bronze medal.
