Phillip's Story
1980 -
Phillip Stockman won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. The right-hander was part of a strong Aussie pitching squad in Athens. He pitched in three games for Australia during the tournament. Australia reached the semi-finals by winning four of its seven preliminary round matches, finishing fourth. It beat Japan, the top-ranked team, 1-0 in the semi-final, before losing the final 6-2 to Cuba. The result was Australia’s first Olympic baseball medal. The Queenslander has enjoyed a US Major Leagues career with the Atlanta Braves.
