Paul's Story
Paul Narracott holds a unique position in Australia's Olympic history, as the first person to compete at both a Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
Narracott started his career as a track and field athlete, specialising in sprinting. He was the Australian Junior Champion over 100m and 200m in 1975/76. The following year in 1977, he won the first of six 100m National Championship titles. He was also 2nd in the 100m twice and 2nd in the 200m three times.
Narracott competed at the 1983 World Championships where he recorded an impressive finish of seventh in the 100m, as well as 23rd in the 200m and 16th in the 4 x 100m relay. The following year he made his Olympic debut at the 1984 Los Angeles Games. His best result was 31st in the 100m and he also recorded 33rd in the 200m.
Narracott transferred his sprinting skills to the ice, taking up bobsleigh and competing in the 1992 Albertville Olympic Winter Games. Along with teammate Glenn Turner in the 2-Man event, Narracott finished 30th out of 46 sleds.
