Paul's Story
Paul Burgess is a three-time Olympian (2000, 2004, 2008) in pole vault with his best result being 11th in the Athens 2004 final. In 1996 Burgess entered the international pole vaulting arena, with a great result at the Sydney world junior championships. He cleared a personal best height of 5.35m to win the gold medal. In his career that not only spanned three Olympic Games but also two Commonwealth Games and numerous World Championships and World Cups, Burgess' best height was 6.00m which he leapt in Perth in 2005. Before becoming a world class pole vaulter, Burgess won a silver medal as a 13-year-old at the national gymnastics championships.
