Patrick's Story
Constable won junior world Championship gold in 2013, secured a AIS scholarship in 2015 and soon after won his first senior national title in the team sprint. He proved he could match it with the world’s best when he won his first World Cup gold medal to start the Olympic year. At his first senior World Championships, just months out from Rio, he combined with Matt Glaetzer and Nathan Hart in the team sprint. The trio went within 0.001 seconds of racing off for bronze but instead finished in fifth.
Constable just missed out on a medal in the team sprint event in Rio after he, Glaetzer and Hart lost the bronze medal race to Russia but 0.155 seconds. He couldn’t match his World Cup heroics in the quarter-finals of the sprint as he bowed out to Kenny while getting knocked out of the Keirin in the repechage round.
