Norman's Story

6/10/1958 –

Norman Stevens was the only indigenous member of the Australian team at Moscow 1980.  Boxing in the lightweight division, he was outpointed in the first round of the Olympic tournament by Geza Tumbas of Yugoslavia.  The split decision by the judges was met with some disapproval from the watching crowd. Only two Australian boxers fought in Moscow, the other being fellow Queenslander Benny Pike.
