1976 -

Nikki Hudson won a gold medal for Australia in women’s hockey at Sydney 2000. Hudson was in tremendous form in Sydney, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals. This included a two-goal performance in Australia’s 5-1 win against China in the medal round to secure its place in the gold medal final. In the final, the Hockeyroos beat Argentina 3-1 for one of the most popular local victories of the Games. Hudson, a striker, also played for Australia at the 2004 and 2008 Games, with the team placing fifth on both occasions. She has played more than 300 international games for Australia. Her other successes with the Hockeyroos include the 1998 World Cup, two Commonwealth Games gold medals and three Champions Trophy titles.
