1930 –

Beatrice (Nancy) Welch who competed as Lyons finished second in the 200m breaststroke at London 1948. Prior to the Olympics, she had changed her style from the traditional breaststroke to that of butterfly, which was a legitimate form of breaststroke at the Olympics before Melbourne 1956. Lyons competed again at Helsinki 1952 but was eliminated in the heats of the 200m breaststroke.
