HAVE A GO AT OLYMPIC SPORTS
Miranda's Story
Born in Canberra to an Italian father and Indonesian mother, Miranda Giambelli moved to Italy when she was six months old. She took up the sport when she was 8 and competed for Italy up until 2013 before representing Australia at the 2014 Oceania Championships. Back-to-back Oceania Championships titles in 2015 and 2016 saw her automatically qualify for Rio after entering the top 14 of the Olympic adjusted rankings. She lined up against eventual -78kg bronze medallist Mayra Aguiar of Brazil in her first match in Rio, going down by ippon.
