Min's Story

Min Woo Lee grew up in a family deeply passionate about golf, with his sister, Minjee Lee, also becoming a successful professional golfer and an Olympian in Tokyo.

Encouraged by his family's support and inspired by his sister's achievements, Min Woo took to golf at a young age, showing promise and skill early in his career.

Min Woo quickly established himself as a formidable amateur golfer. His breakthrough came in 2016 when he won the prestigious US Junior Amateur, making him the first Australian male to achieve this feat. His sister had also previously won the tournament, making the Lee siblings the first brother and sister to have won the event. He also represented Australia on multiple occasions throughout his junior and amateur career.

In 2019, he turned professional and began playing on the European Tour and PGA Australasian Tour, with his first notable result being a top-four finish at the Saudi International. It wouldn't be long before Min Woo tasted victory at the professional level, claiming victory at the 2020 Vic Open. 2020 was also the year he debuted on the PGA Tour in the USA, participating in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The 2021 Scottish Open was the site of Min Woo's next notable success, where he beat fellow European Tour competitors Thomas Detry (BEL) and Matt Fitzpatrick (ENG) in a final-hole play-off. His success resulted in an invitation to the Open Championship, hosted at the Royal St George Golf Club.

2023 marked a major breakout for Min Woo. He earned a special temporary membership on the PGA Tour, making 10 out of 14 cuts during the season. His most notable results on the US PGA Tour that year included a fifth-place finish at the US Open and a sixth-place finish at The Players Championship. He amassed more than $US4 million in prize money during the 2022-23 PGA season.

Closer to home, he won the 2023 Macau Open, his first victory on the Asian Tour, winning by two strokes over Thailand's Poom Saksansin. In Australia, he also claimed victory at the 2023 Australian PGA Championship, winning by three strokes over Japan's Rikuya Hoshino.

Selected for the Paris 2024 Olympic Team alongside his sister, Min Woo and Minjee have become the first siblings to feature in Australia's Olympic golf team.
