Michele's Story

1965 -

Michele Timms was one of the most popular and talented basketballers produced by Australia. The guard played with a pleasing mix of dash, flash and fire, with her ability to score, pass and play pressure defence making her one of the finest players in the world. The Victorian played in three Olympics for Australia, winning two medals: bronze in 1996 and silver in 2000. She made her Olympic debut in 1988, where the team placed fourth. Timms was an integral member of the Opals as they climbed the world rankings in the ‘90s. She also enjoyed a fine professional career with clubs in Australia, Europe and the United States. She has stayed involved in the sport as a coach.
