Michael's Story
In his first year on the World Cup freestyle circuit in 2002/03, Mt Hotham skier Michael Robertson produced two top ten results in moguls, with a best result of sixth in Sauze d'Oulx, Italy. It was, at the time the most impressive World Cup debut by an Australian moguls skier.
Robertson’s ranking of 24 in his debut season was an excellent achievement, especially given the fact that he competed in only seven of the ten events. He also made the final of the World Championships in Deer Valley, Utah, in February 2003, finishing in 12th place, another great result for a competitor with so little experience.
A long-term ankle problem and subsequent problems from surgery in the following years disrupted what was a promising start to Robertson's career. He competed in his debut Olympics at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, finishing 24th in the event where teammate Dale Begg-Smith won gold. Robertson retired from international competition in March 2007
