Melissa's Story
Melissa Hoar made her Olympic debut competing in skeleton at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Like her fellow skeleton competitor in Vancouver, Emma Lincoln-Smith, Hoar came out of surf lifesaving. She had been ranked No.1 in Australia for open women’s beach sprint and flags in 2004 and is a two time individual beach flags world champion. In the 2009/2010 season Hoar took home two gold and two silver Intercontinental Cup medals and posted a ninth, 10th and 14th place in World Cup competition, earning her a spot on the Team for Vancouver. In her Olympic debut, she finished 12th.
