Mark's Story

Mark Stockwell was Australia’s only triple medallist of the Los Angeles Games. An explosive freestyler, Stockwell swam an outstanding individual race in the men’s 100m as well as being a star on Australia’s two medal-winning relay teams. As a romantic aside, Stockwell has another reason for fondly remembering the 1984 Games: it was there he met his future wife, American swimming legend Tracy Caulkins, a triple gold medallist in LA. After watching her swim, Stockwell jumped into the warm-up pool and introduced himself to Caulkins. They were married seven years later.
