Mark's Story
Mark Anthony was 18 and balancing his final year of high school when he made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Anthony, the 2008 National and Oceania Champion, competed in the 73 – 81kg half-middleweight division but was knocked out in the opening round.
Having won the 2012 Oceania Championship, Anthony qualified to compete at his second Olympic Games in London. Having a bye into the round of 16, he knocked off Georgia’s Variam Liparteliani before going down to Cuba’s Asley Gonzalez in the quarter-finals. Fighting for a chance to compete for bronze in the repechage, Anthony could not overcome Greek Ilias Iliadas.
