Marco Tilio began his senior career at Sydney FC. Making his professional debut in the 2019 AFC Champions League against Kawasaki Frontale.
After an impressive season, winning the 2019-20 Y-League and claming the League’s Golden Boot Tilio was officially promoted to the senior squad.
Tilio made his A-League debut against the Central Coast Mariners, in which he scored a goal in the 89th minute before aiding teammate Van Der Saag to another goal two minutes later to secure a decisive 3-0 victory.
Named to the Young Socceroos in 2019, Tilio was just seventeen when he travelled to Vietnam to compete for Australia in the AFF U18 Youth Championship. He was instrumental in the team’s success, scoring a hat trick in the team’s second match. Australia were victorious at the tournament, securing the final 1-0 over Malaysia to be crowned champions in Ho Chi Minh City.
The right winger joined Melbournce FC in September of 2020, after being recruited from Sydney FC. Vindicated of his decision as Melbourne City defeated Sydney FC 3-1 that same season to be crowned A-Leauge Champions. Tilio scoring to push City into the final during their semi-final tie against Macarthur FC.
Marco made his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 where he scored Australia’s second in their impressive 2-0 win over Argentina enforcing his position in the starting 11 of the following game against Spain.
He would go on to make his senior debut against Vietnam in 2022 becoming the 616 male cap and almost scoring minutes into his introduction. He would also be named in the Australian squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after fellow teammate Martin Boyle was ruled out due to injury.
