Luke's Story

At Athens 2004, Luke Roberts combined with Bradley McGee, Brett Lancaster, Graeme Brown, Peter Dawson (preliminaries) and Stephen Wooldridge (preliminaries) to give Australia its first win in the team pursuit since Los Angeles 1984. In the intervening years, the Australian teams in this event had many successes at the Commonwealth Games and world championships, set world records and had won medals, but not gold, at all Olympic Games except Sydney. Lancaster finished fourth in the team pursuit at Beijing 2008. In the individual pursuit, he finished ninth at Sydney and fifth at Athens. At the world championships, Roberts was in the pursuit teams that won gold medals in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and the bronze medal in 2008. He also claimed the silver medal in the individual pursuit at the 2002 world championships.
