Luke's Story
Luke Madill began cycling and remarkably competed in his first race at just three years of age. Madill won 11 national titles, his first at the age of seven, before he could become an Olympian when BMX was introduced to the Olympic program for the 2008 Beijing Games. Leading into Beijing Madill suffered a life threatening injury that doctors feared would leave him a quadriplegic. The accident happened in 2006 but Madill was back on the bike in 2007, placing third at the National Championships. Madill came second in the same event in 2008 and raced for Australia at the 2008 Beijing Games where he made the quarterfinals and finished 23rd.
