HAVE A GO AT OLYMPIC SPORTS
Lucy's Story
After narrowly missing out on the Vancouver 2010 Games, Western Australia’s Lucy Biedermann (Chaffer) focused her training on Sochi and made her Olympic debut four years later at the Russian Games.
Before getting into Skeleton, Biedermann competed in Surf Lifesaving – specialising in beach flags – where she was recruited by the Australian Institute of Sport’s talent identification program.
Biedermann produced two top-10 World Cup performances in the lead up to the Sochi Games, finishing the season ranked 15th in the world. Making her Olympic debut, Biedermann finished in 17th place, 3.75 seconds behind gold medallist Elizabeth Yarnold of Great Britain. Biedermann recovered from a poor first run and improved throughout the competition with her second and fourth runs being the ninth and 10th fastest overall.
