Louise's Story
1972 -
Dual Olympian Louise Dobson won a gold medal as a member of the Australian women’s hockey team in 1996. Dobson, born in Victoria, was a key player for the Hockeyroos as they dominated international competition in the late ‘90s. A quality defender and a feared penalty striker, Dobson played more than 200 matches for Australia. The Hockeyroos’ gold medal was their second in eight years, after their 1988 victory in Seoul. Injury ruined Dobson’s chances of playing at Sydney 2000, where the team defended its Olympic title. Dobson returned to the Games in 2004, where the team placed fifth. As well as her Olympic success, Dobson’s achievements with the Hockeyroos include three Champions Trophy victories.
