Mountain bike rider Lisa Mathison made her Olympic debut at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Mathison began competitive cycling in 1998 at the age of 13. Five years later she was selected on her first Australian team. At the Athens Games, Mathison finished 10th of 30 riders in the mountain bike event. The same year she was awarded 2004 Australian Female MTB Cyclist of the Year.
