Lalita's Story

Lalita Yauhleuskaya was born in Belarus and started shooting at a local club when she was 13-years-old. At the 1996 Atlanta Games, Yauhleuskaya made her Olympic debut for Belarus, competing in the 10m air pistol. In 1998 she moved to Australia with husband Sergei who accepted a position as gunsmith for the Australian Shooting Team. Despite living in Australia, she continued to shoot for Belarus – winning a bronze medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in the 25m air pistol. Obtaining Australian citizenship the following year, Yauhleuskaya first competed for her adopted nation at the 2002 Commonwealth Games winning three gold and a bronze.

She made her Olympic debut for Australia in Athens in 2004 (21st – 10m air pistol, 10th – 25m pistol) backed up in Beijing 2008 (18th- 10m air pistol, 14th – 25m pistol) and then made her third Olympic appearance for her adopted nation at the London 2012 Games (40th – 10m air pistol, 17th – 25m pistol).

Yauhleuskaya again lined up in the green and gold in Rio finishing 24th and 14th in the 10m air pistol and 25m pistol events.
