Kym's Story
At the age of 24, Kym Howe made her Olympic debut, competing in pole vault at the Athens 2004 Games. From 1993 to 1996, Howe was a member of the WA junior gymnastics team, before making the switch to athletics. She made her senior international debut at the 2001 East Asian Games, winning bronze. The following year she took silver with a jump of 4.15m at the Manchester Commonwealth Games. Howe leapt 4.30m, placing her 10th in the qualifying round in Athens, missing the final but finishing 16th overall. In 2006 at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, Howe bettered her Manchester result, winning gold.
