Kyle Vander-Kuyp, a proud Worimi and Yuin man, ran in the 110 metres hurdles at Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000.
At Atlanta, he finished seventh and was the first Australian high hurdler to run in an Olympic final since Helsinki 1952. Kyle competed at four World Championships and four Commonwealth Games. His best results was fifth place at Gothenburg, Sweden in 1995 and at the Commonwealth Games at Victoria, Canada in 1994 and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998.
His personal best of 13.29 seconds for the event was run at Gothenburg, which is an Australian Record that has stood for more than 27 years. During his career he won 12 senior Australian titles.
Vander-Kuyp is a member of the Aboriginal and Islander Sports Hall of Fame and the Australian Olympic Committee's Indigenous Advisory Committee.
At Tokyo 2020 Kyle Vander-Kuyp was the first Indigenous Liaison Officer for the Australian Olympic Team.
