Kevin's Story

In winning silver medals at Munich 1972, Kevin (Clyde) Sefton, John Nicholson and Danny Clark won Australia's first Olympic medals in cycling since Melbourne 1956. Sefton's medal was the first, and so far only, Olympic medal won by Australian men cyclists on the road. Australia's women have won two gold medals (Barcelona 1992 and Athens 2004) in the Olympic road race. Sefton won the road race at the Commonwealth Games at Auckland 1974 and then competed in that event, the road team time trial and the track-based team pursuit at Montreal 1976.
