Kerry's Story

Kerry Newsome (Wyborn) is a two-time Olympian in softball having contested the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games. Newsome made her senior debut at 20 years of age in 1998. She was unlucky to miss selection to the 2000 Sydney Olympic Team due to a knee reconstruction but recovered to contest the 2002 World Championships. After winning silver in Athens in 2004, Newsome struck bad luck with injury again, breaking her leg resulting in missing the 2006 World Championship team. She returned to form to make the Olympic Team for Beijing, winning bronze.
