Katrina's Story

Raised in Victoria, Katrina Werry first represented her home state when she was selected for the youth women's eight in 2012, finishing third.

Two years later in 2014, Katrina competed for Australia in the women's eight at the World Rowing U23 Championships. The youth eight went on to finish fourth.

At the next edition of the tournament in the following year, Katrina rowed alongside Mercantile teammate Addy Dunkley-Smith. Although finishing first in their heat, the pair went on to finish third in the final.

In 2017 Katrina made her senior international debut for Australia at the World Rowing Cup II. In the women's four, Katrina had an outstanding debut tournament, coming away with a gold medal. More gold followed at the World Rowing Cup III and World Rowing Championships.

In 2018 Katrina briefly returned to the Australia women's eight team, finishing fifth at the World Rowing Cup III. A few months later Katrina returned to the women's four for the World Rowing Championships, finishing second.

Pushing to make Tokyo 2020 her Olympic debut, Katrina had a fantastic international season in 2019 with gold medals at both the World Rowing Championships and the World Rowing Cup III. She added a bronze medal at the World Rowing Cup II.

At Tokyo 2020, Katrina moved into the women's eight team, making her Olympic debut as Australia finished fifth in the final.

Returning to the women's four squad, Katrina in 2022 finished with a gold medal at the World Rowing Cup II and a bronze at the latter World Rowing Championships.

In 2023 Katrina competed across all three major tournaments, finishing with a bronze and silver at World Rowing Cups II and III respectively whilst also finishing fifth at the World Rowing Championships.

This year Katrina rejoined the women's eight at the World Rowing Cup II and finished finishing fourth.
