Karyn's Story
Karyn Gojnich has had a 20-year Olympic career. Gojnich was one of the first female sailors to represent Australia when she competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games with crewmate Nicky Bethwaite. The pair placed sixth in the 470 class - the best result of the Australian Sailing team at those Games.
Gojnich returned to the Australian Team for the 2004 Athens Games. Then juggling motherhood and professional sailing, Gojnich finished 13th in the Yngling class. At the age of 47 Gojnich made her third Olympic appearance. After placing second at the 2008 World Championships with a newly formed Yngling crew, Gojnich and crew members Krystal Weir and Angela Farrell finished 10th in the Yngling at the Beijing Olympic Games.
