Joseph's Story

1878 – 1952

Joseph ‘Joe’ Lynch, from Sydney, competed in the 1500 metres, five miles and marathon at London 1908. He served in World War I. 

 

One of his grand nephews, Brendan Lynch, was the Program Manager of Volunteer Recruiting for the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG).  

For his work in delivering 60,000 volunteers to the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games, Brendan Lynch received an Order of Merit from the International Olympic Committee.
